The Willows Homes For Sale
Another of the most notable neighborhoods of Menlo Park, The Willows is an excellent residence for residents of all types. The area is most known for the many location specific bay trees, the large and stately oaks, and the unique and beautiful eucalyptus trees that line the streets that intertwine with each other in the neighborhood. With a vast history, the area was a mere cattle drive during 1857, with a winding private road that made way to characteristic willow groves throughout the eastern edge of what has now become a great residential neighborhood.
The community is found nestled in serenity between Willow Road’s winding section and the San Francis Quito Creek, which adds to the charm of the area. The neighborhood has been through great beautification in order to enhance the quality of the community and ensure that residents can enjoy the area for all it’s worth.
Driving through The Willows of Menlo Park, you can find many new roads, new sidewalks, newly planted trees lining the streets, and more parking options as well. The Hacienda area is one of the prime examples of growth and advancement in the area, offering a newly revitalized mall and several newly planted shrubs and trees.
The neighborhood wasn’t always part of Menlo Park, once actually named North Palo Alto during the years after the Great Depression, with many homes built by Si Simon, creating a residential patch of “Simon Built” homes, as they were recognized. It wasn’t until 1953 that the neighborhood became The Willows after incorporation of the city of Menlo Park, with Willow Rd., Hwy 101, and E. O’Keefe St forming the border of the community today.
Besides the “Simon Built” homes of the post-Depression era, there are also many stucco homes and various sized and designed cottages, with newer and larger homes also reaching the neighborhood. Quick fact: The Willows were once known as Menlo Park’s inexpensive neighborhood, but with the revitalization attempts of the neighborhood, it is now rising in value and costs. The neighborhood now has a median home of $1.96M in July 2015.
The peace and the character of The Willows are the main qualities of the neighborhood that attract the residents, which are made up of various age groups and familial statuses as well. There can be found new, small families, as well as older couples, larger families, and residents that have enjoyed a long life in the area.
