Redwood Shores Homes For Sale
Redwood Shores is an affluent, bayfront community that, while part of Redwood City, is not actually contiguous with its other neighborhoods. It is built upon reclaimed land (rock and dirt were brought in to fill part of the bay in the 1960s) and it was home to Marine World theme park until 1986. These days, Redwood Shores boasts scores of multi-million dollar homes, many of which have private docks for waterway access. Several technology companies have a presence here, as well, including Oracle, Nintendo, and Shutterfly.
Although the first homes in Redwood Shores were built in the 60s, development only reached its height in the mid 80s, consequently lending this area a more modern feel than many surrounding neighborhoods. It’s a great place to find newly-built, luxury condominiums, town-homes, and planned unit developments (PUDs). Ample outdoor recreation is available – the lagoon hosts many rowing and sailing events, and there are several tennis courts, athletic fields, and nature trails available to residents. The median home price in Redwood Shores is $1.575 million, which is comparable to the rest of Redwood City, making the area fairly affordable despite its waterfront location.
Redwood Shores is served by a different K-8 school district than the rest of Redwood City, the Belmont-Redwood Shores district. Two elementary schools are in the area: Sandpiper Elementary and Redwood Shores Elementary, both of which are highly-rated.
